Reimagining the Wild Through Couture Embroidery

Hand embroidered spiderweb for couture and art by Ricamour

Animal motifs are taking centerstage. Again. And we are here to explore the world of the animal kingdom through texture, technique and unexpected execution.

Whether zooming in on micro-details or reimagining classic spots through texture and dimension, we love finding new ways to bring nature and its drama to life.

Take a look through some of our favourite animal-inspired creations.

Whether you are designing for couture, interiors, art or costume- we hope you find your embroidery inspiration for the next collection, here.

The Butterfly Effect

We approached this classic motif through micro-detail as well as structural artistry- designing pieces that work as delicate accents, but also as commanding visual statements.

The Macro Wing

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

This piece focuses on a microscopic view of a butterfly’s wing, capturing its natural patterns at an enlarged scale. Every sequin was carefully hand-picked and stitched down to create a super zoomed-in perspective.

We incorporated sequins with pearl finish- giving that luminous glow when they catch the light, mirroring real wings.

It’s deceptively simple, yet remarkably elaborate.

The 3D Appliqués

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

A vibrant collection that captures an array of butterfly species. We blended contrasting techniques across the set- ranging from traditional bullion and thread embroidery to playful neon beads. Each wing structure features a distinct mix of materials and techniques.

Designed for framing as bespoke wall art, these pieces would look just as striking scattered across a short dress.

The Living Installation

Hand embroidered Butterfly. Textural and hyperrealistic. Crafted by Ricamour
Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

A hyper-real 3D butterfly hovering over real, living flowers.

To pull off the illusion, our artisans mapped the wing’s intricate gradient and texture. A beautiful mix of micro-beads, sequins and crystals brought the details to life.

We wanted to create an instant double-take- a moment where the eye tries to sort out real vs art. Where one can’t tell where nature ends and the handcraft begins.

It is a true demonstration of how high craft can transform a quiet corner into a living art installation.

The Spider’s Web

A cobweb is nature’s lacework, right? We explore this interplay of fragility, tension and geometry in three distinct ways- taking it from high glamour to high-craft.

The Web Bodice

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

A glitzy take on the web, handcrafted in the most sparkly crystals and micro-beads. Our artisans designed this to be bold, edgy and remarkably distinct.

What a statement bridal shower short dress this would make!

The Alta Moda Web

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

The design challenge here? Making the web lines appear weightless and suspended, yet perfectly structured.

Our craftsmen solved this by mapping a delicate lattice of fine threads over black bugle beads. Set against a deep black satin canvas, the lines truly look as though they are floating- a compelling play on depth, shadow and tactile illusion.

The Dimensional Webs

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

A fun, dimensional take on spiders and their webs. We sculpted life-like 3D spiders in black bullion and bugles, setting them against webs rendered in shifting iridescent threads.

It’s the techniques and textures that make this one special.

The Cats

We might be biased here- we love exploring new techniques to capture these majestic felines- from the tactile density of their fur to intricate silhouettes.

The Raffia Skin

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

An organic, textural interpretation of classic leopard skin. We hand-dyed raffia across four distinct natural shades and crafted the base to mimic its lush, fibrous coat. We then embellished it with black crystals and beads to define each rosette. Why? For a little sparkle of course.

The Glass Skin

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

Rather than using coloured beads, our artisans used clear glass bugle beads and stitched them down with coloured cotton threads to map out the skin’s natural patterns. Capturing the details through thread colour alone was time-consuming, but oh-so satisfying. The technique gives this piece a mesmerizing sheen, almost as if we are viewing it through a liquid film.

The Silhouette

Conceptualized and hand-embroidered by Ricamour

A framed piece capturing a leopard and its cub. To give the composition drama, our artisans made the eyes pop through layered threadwork, drawing you straight into their gaze. Surrounding the duo is a delicate botanical setting brought to life through beaded leaf veins and raffia blooms.

A beautiful addition to a space as bespoke wall art.

We hope these designs spark new possibilities for your upcoming collections- whether for couture, bespoke interiors or spatial art.

Look out for Part 2, where we continue our journey through the animal kingdom with snakes, bugs and raw predatory textures.
